FotoFacial®

The FotoFacial® procedure is a full face, neck, and/or chest treatment using intense pulses of visible light that effectively improves facial redness and flushing, acne, and the visible signs of sun damage and aging. World-renown board-certified dermatologist Dr. Patrick Bitter, Jr. is the pioneer and inventor of the FotoFacial®, and he was the first to introduce this innovative, noninvasive method to rejuvenate and improve the skin with no downtime.

With 20 years of pioneering research, scientific studies, and extensive experience in treating the skin with light, Dr. Bitter is the world’s expert and premier authority on using intense pulsed light (IPL) and broadband light (BBL). There is no one more knowledgeable or experienced on treating the skin with light than Dr. Bitter. His true passion is to give his patients the healthiest, clearest, and youngest-looking skin at any age.

FotoFacial® is the real Hollywood anti-aging beauty secret. It is the closest we have come to the fountain of youth.

- Patrick Bitter, Jr., M.D.

Using a non-laser medical device, Dr. Bitter delivers a series of gentle pulses of light to the skin. He selects specific settings for each treatment and performs a series of five or more treatments at three-week intervals to provide maximum improvement to the skin. The benefits of FotoFacial® treatments are consistent, visible improvement in the skin with no downtime, little discomfort, and minimal risk.

Refresh Your Overall Appearance

Sun Damage / Age Spots

The sun’s rays are among the most harmful contributors to aging. Sun damage often leaves sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, and uneven skin tone, and significant sun exposure can also lead to skin cancer. FotoFacial® treatments improve sun-damaged skin on the face and body caused by the sun. This innovative treatment effectively reduces fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, age spots, and uneven skin tone, making your skin healthier, clearer, smoother, and younger looking.

Aged, Sagging Skin

As you age, your skin loses elasticity and begins to sag to some extent, no matter how well you take care of it. FotoFacial® treatment boosts collagen levels in the skin to add plumpness, tighten the skin, and improve sagging. The results are smoother, healthier, and younger-looking skin.

Rosacea

Those who suffer from rosacea understand how embarrassing this chronic facial condition can be. FotoFacial® treatments dramatically reduce the overall redness, flushing, and dilated capillaries and improve the breakouts of this common facial condition.

Broken Capillaries

Over time, capillaries beneath the skin become raised and may even burst. FotoFacial® treatments effectively get rid of these damaged capillaries without harming the surrounding tissue.

FAQs

  • Q. Who is a good candidate for FotoFacial® treatments?

    A. The best candidates for FotoFacial® treatments are:

    • People who suffer from rosacea and experience flushing and redness of their skin
    • People with sun damaged skin, including fine lines and wrinkles, poor skin tone and texture, and age spots who desire healthier, smoother, and younger-looking skin
    • People with aged, sagging skin who want smoother, tighter, and younger-looking skin
    • People who suffer from acne who desire clearer, smoother skin
    • People who do not want to take time off to heal from laser resurfacing or chemical peels
    • Active people who want to improve their skin but do not want to interfere with social or outdoor activities
  • Q. What areas can FotoFacial® treat?

    A. Dr. Bitter can use FotoFacial® treatments on any part of the skin on the face or body. This innovative treatment is especially effective for improving the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, chest, and hands.

  • Q. How long does the FotoFacial® treatments take?

    A. Each FotoFacial® treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

  • Q. Is there any pain with the FotoFacial® treatment?

    A. There is minimal discomfort during the FotoFacial® treatment. For those who have more sensitive skin, Dr. Bitter can use a topical anesthetic cream 30 to 60 minutes before treatment, which will result in virtually no discomfort at all during the procedure. There is no discomfort after the treatment.

  • Q. What is the recovery time associated with FotoFacial® treatments?

    A. FotoFacial® treatments are non-invasive and require no downtime to recover. Immediately following a FotoFacial® treatment, the skin may appear red and flushed, tiny capillaries may appear more visible, and brown spots may appear darker. However, all of these changes gradually fade over a period of hours to a few days. Most patients can return to work or their normal activities as soon as the treatment is complete.

  • Q. How many treatments will I need?

    A. Although you will likely see a noticeable improvement in your appearance after just one treatment, Dr. Bitter may recommend multiple FotoFacial® treatments to ensure optimal results. The number of treatments needed will vary based on your skin type and how much damage needs to be corrected, but most patients receive a series of five treatments at three-week intervals to provide maximum improvement to the skin

  • Q. What results can I expect to see?

    A. Following your FotoFacial® treatment, you can expect to see a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing, and dilated capillaries. People with visible aging and sun damage can expect to see their skin become smoother with a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles, reduction in pore size, and fading of sun spots. Many people with rosacea see an improvement in breakouts and can decrease or discontinue their medications.

  • Q. How soon will I see results?

    A. After your first FotoFacial® treatment, your skin will feel smoother and will have a more even skin tone. These improvements are gradual and will be more visible after each treatment. Dr. Bitter recommends four to five treatments for optimal results, and some patients will benefit from additional FotoFacial® treatments.

  • Q. How long do the results last?

    A. FotoFacial® treatments produce satisfying results that can last anywhere between one and two years from a single treatment. Patients who undergo regular FotoFacial® treatments can expect to see continuous age-defying results.

  • Q. How much does the FotoFacial® treatment cost?

    A. The exact cost of a FotoFacial® treatment depends on the number of areas that need improvement and the amount of skin damage that needs to be repaired. During your personalized consultation, Dr. Bitter will evaluate your skin and determine the total price for your FotoFacial® treatment.

  • Q. What treatments can I combine with FotoFacial®?

    A. Many patients choose to combine BOTOX® Cosmetic or other injectables immediately after their FotoFacial® procedure.
