Why Get a Liquid Facelift?
The aging process can take a toll on our aesthetic appearance. As a part of the normal aging process, our bodies produce less collagen needed for vibrant, younger skin. As a result, the extracellular matrix (ECM), or the skin’s support system starts to decline. As a result, an undesirable development of lax, excess skin around the face and the body show. Many patients want to fight back against this process but prefer a long-lasting solution that doesn’t require surgery. A facelft can be extremely costly. According to figures released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the average cost of a traditional facelift is $8,000. [1] The medical field has responded by developing a vast array of treatments that include minimally invasive alternatives that are now readily available. One of those solutions has come in the form of neuromodulators and soft tissue fillers. Since 1997, their popularity has grown by 6448% [2]
Done without incisions or surgery, a liquid facelift has made attaining a youthful appearance more attainable, and results can be achieved in just one session. Patients can receive customizable combinations of effective injectable cosmetics to resolve their unique concerns. Dermal fillers like Juvederm, and neuromodulators like Botox, can address fine lines, wrinkles, and folds, and improve volume for enhanced facial contours. Dr. Bitter offers the following injectables to complete your liquid facelift.
- Botox: Prevenets wrinkles from forming by blocking facial muscle movements. It can treat crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines in the upper third of the face.
- Dysport: Work similar to Botox to treat furrows line between the eyebrow, forehead, and upper lip.
- Restylane: Contains hyaluronic acid to restore volume firmness to treat nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the mouth.
- Restylane Silk: Also contains hyaluronic acid to increase plumpness in the lips and erase wrinkles around the mouth.
- Juvederm: Uses HA to fill lines in fine lines in the lips, cheeks, or areas of the face that appear hollow.
- Juvéderm Voluma XC: Treats volume loss in the cheeks and face, brows, and cheeks. Also addresses frown lines with the help of HA.
- Sculptra: Stimulates collagen to bring back facial volume and improves wrinkles in the face signs of facial aging. It adjusts smile lines, laughs lines, and chin wrinkles. Can be used in the temples, cheeks, chin, and jawline.
- Kybella: Contains deoxycholic acid to gradually break down fat in the chin.

Your Consultation with Dr. Bitter
At your consultation, one of our friendly staff members will gather information about your desired aesthetic results to understand the results you want to achieve. We’ll then closely examine the condition of your facial skin and structure. This will help us to determine the best course of treatment, including the specific injectables to be used and areas to target. After we’ve developed your individualized treatment plan, we’ll walk you through your liquid facelift treatment, one step at a time. Finally, we’ll give you a small list of preparatory steps to follow.
Preparation
Unlike a traditional facelift, there is no need for extensive preparation for a liquid facelift. However, below are a few instructions to follow so that you have the best experience possible.
- Refrain from drinking and smoking a few days before treatment because this may constrict blood flow and hamper recovery.
- Temporarily stop taking blood-thinning medications to avoid the risk of bruising.
- Arrive at your appointment with clean skin.
Procedure
Before your treatment begins, one of our medical professionals will first numb treatment areas to provide extra comfort. Next, we’ll begin using the injectable treatments chosen at your consultation to achieve your desired aesthetic. In the weeks after treatment, you can see a better volume and contours to your face. Below is a list of injections that may be used for your treatment.
Neuromodulators
These injectable treatments contain Botulinum toxin A. When administered beneath the skin, the neurotoxin temporarily inhibits muscle contractions. By deactivating these muscles under the skin, the skin creases less, resulting in the reduction of dynamic wrinkles, lines, and creases that appear with movement. As a result, the fine lines and wrinkles in the face will soften and stop them from developing. Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport are excellent at treating and preventing dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet, lip lines, and glabellar lines.
Dermal Fillers
Fillers are used to address rhytids (wrinkles) and volume concerns in the cheeks, lips, and under the eyes. Dr. Bitter may use a combination of Juvederm, Juvederm XC, Restylane, Restylane Silk to add fullness to the areas mentioned. Injectable fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a biocompatible substance that provides a scaffolding support structure for our skin.
Poly-L-lactic Acid
Injectables such as Sculptra are injected into the skin to reduce facial wrinkles. It contains poly-L-lactic acid, a collagen stimulator, that gradually provides volume and replaces lost collagen underneath the skin. This new collagen is what firms the skin, volumizes hollow areas, and improves skin thickness.
Recovery
Unlike a traditional facelift, your recovery period is straightforward. The absence of general anesthesia and the need for extensive surgery allows you to resume life quickly without significant downtime. However, some patients may find it helpful to take it easy for the first two days to let residential discomfort subside. You can resume strenuous activities within a week. Please refrain from touching your face for a few days.
Results
Astounding results of your liquid facelift will be visible almost immediately despite minor bruising, swelling, and redness. But within a week, you should start to see the symptoms fade away and your results blossom. The impact of a liquid facelift can last anywhere from 6-12 months. After that, patients can come in for additional sessions to keep up their results.
