Dermal fillers and injectables are cosmetic enhancements used to rejuvenate the skin for ravishing results. As we age, collagen production decreases and causes the face to have fine lines, wrinkles, and other minor flaws. Fillers and injectables can be used alone or together to prevent the appearance of these creases. Major advancements in science and technology have allowed us to achieve amazing aesthetic results with little pain or downtime. Previously, a facial refresh was achieved through more involved processes like surgery. Now, cosmetic procedures are developed with comfort in mind, as they offer minimally invasive and non-surgical solutions to facial rejuvenation. Outcomes from injectables offer stunning results for both men and women looking to adjust their appearance.
The choices are nearly endless when choosing a cosmetic procedure and it can be overwhelming to navigate these treatments. The medical office of Dr. Patrick Bitter Jr., M.D is a highly regarded, respected pioneer in the art of facial refreshing. We offer a vast array of choices that fit your needs. He and his team of experts will gladly make sure that you preserve the natural beauty of your face. About Fillers & Injectables In Los Gatos
Looking to give your face a brighter, smoother, more youthful texture? Dermal fillers and injectables could be the solution for you. Fillers are what the name implies: they simply fill in lined areas caused by aging. The result is a more youthful appearance — without the need for expensive and painful surgeries.
Don’t let the variety of brands scare you into thinking injectable procedures are a complicated process. We just like to offer choices to our patients! Brands such as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Restylane, Restylane Silk, Juvederm, Juvederm Voluma XC, Sculptra Aesthetic, and Kybella are at your disposal. They are all different, but their shared goal is to target fine lines in the face and address areas that need a little lift. Some of these fillers contain hyaluronic acid to make your face look as firm and refreshed as it did 5-10 years ago. To see which filler will benefit you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Bitters in Los Gatos or call (408) 358-5757.
Botox Cosmetic is a neuromodulator that prevents wrinkles from forming by relaxing facial muscles. It has done wonders in treating crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines. Results can take shape within 7-10 days of injection with effects lasting 4-6 months. Patients can opt to go in for regularly scheduled treatments to see longer-lasting and consistent results.
Dysport works similarly to Botox in that it stops the movement of wrinkle-causing muscle contractions, allowing the skin to level out. Patients will witness results within 3-5 days with effects lasting 3-4 months.
Like many other dermal fillers, Restylane contains hyaluronic acid to restore volume and add firmness to the facial tissues. It can treat nasolabial folds and other wrinkles around the mouth. Patients see results for wrinkles last 9-12 months and lip enhancements for up to 6 months.
Part of the Restylane line of products, this facial filler is made of a silky smooth hyaluronic acid formula that enhances your skin’s fullness and hydration. It is used on the tissues of the lips to make them fuller and more youthful looking.
Juvederm is a soft tissue filler also uses hyaluronic acid to fill in fine lines in the lips but can be applied in the cheeks or any area on the face that is starting to look a little hollow. This procedure is a quick treatment that has immediate results lasting 6-9 months.
Juvederm Voluma XC
Part of the Juvederm family of products, this hyaluronic acid filler treats hollow cheeks and volume loss in the face. Its non-surgical nature offers smoother, youthful facial features that can last up to two years.
Sculptra stimulates the growth of collagen to restore facial volume and improves signs of facial aging. It adjusts smile lines, laughs lines, and chin wrinkles. Treatments take about three sessions but the results can last more than 2 years.
Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a molecule that breaks down fat in the submental region, where the dreaded double chin forms. In the following six weeks, the lymphatic system flushes the destroyed fat cells from the body. Up to six treatment sessions may be performed to achieve your aesthetic needs.
Dermal fillers and injectables are excellent ways to raise your self-confidence. Results will depend on the type of procedure done and the areas treated. Fillers add volume, which plumps and smooths the face. Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport relax muscles to banish creases caused by facial expressions.
Patients who choose these procedures enjoy:
- Their non-surgical nature
- Relatively painless treatment with minimal downtime
- Fuller, smoother skin
- Reduced signs of aging
Dermal fillers and injectables are great for those looking to concentrate on the fine lines, wrinkles, or less full areas of their face. Good candidates are for patients with moderate cases that do not need invasive surgical correction. They are available for both men and women of all ages who are looking to correct the details of their faces.
Patients who would make great candidates should also:
- Be physically healthy
- Not smoke
- Have a positive outlook and realistic goals in mind
- Are committed to maintaining good skin health

The good thing about these cosmetic treatments is that they are minimally invasive and are quick to administer. As such, preparation is minimal. However, patients are advised to:
- Stop prescription medicines and vitamin supplements that affect the blood flow such as thinners and OTC pain medications
- Avoid drinking and smoking at least 24 hours before treatment
- Postpone hair removal in the treatment area
- Take arnica five days before treatment, as it reduces swelling and promotes healing
The entire process is quick and easy. First, your skin will be cleansed to get it ready for its improvement. Patients may be given a numbing ointment to minimize discomfort. Next, Dr. Bitter gently injects the cosmetic into the areas surrounding the nose, mouth, or chin. You should be able to go back to your daily routine following the procedure, which typically takes 15-30 minutes. The area may be tender to the touch so you may be offered an ice pack to reduce swelling and minimize discomfort.
Recovery and Results
The procedure is quick and convenient and allows you to get back to your schedule in no time. Some swelling and minor bruising may be expected. Results from the procedure will depend on the area treated and the type of injectables used. Each treatment comes with a lasting effect that ranges from several months on, depending on the injectable used. To maintain results, patients can choose to get touch-ups at regular intervals as determined by Dr. Bitter.
Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
Dermal fillers work wonders to solve the appearance of wrinkles, but there are also proactive treatments to consider as well. You could spend money on anti-aging creams with questionable effects. Or, you could get a FotoFacial. Developed by Dr. Bitter himself, this state-of-the-art technology uses broadband light (BBL) to treat the deep layers of the skin so that the skin cells naturally regenerate for a refreshed, dewy glow.
Similarly, Sciton is another option that has helped many patients realize the true beauty in their skin. It’s an advanced light technology that can treat many skin issues ranging from sun damage to vascular lesions. The lasers work their power in the skin to bring forth smoother, tighter, and more youthful-looking skin.
As with many cosmetic procedures, dermal fillers and injectables are highly customizable. The final cost will vary, and depend on several factors. All these variables will be outlined at your preliminary consultation. Make sure to check out our specials as we periodically feature exclusive offers.
