About CoolSculpting in Silicon Valley

CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat from nine areas of the body. It is a non-surgical body contouring procedure that targets the visible, pinchable fat under the skin. It works through cryolipolysis, a process that removes fat cells by exposing them to below-freezing temperatures. Frozen fat cells go through apoptosis (cell death) and are eliminated naturally through the body’s lymphatic system.[1]

Keep up with the science behind all our fantastic procedures by reading Dr. Bitter’s blog.

CoolSculpting is a safe and non-invasive procedure because fat cells are much more vulnerable to the cold than living skin cells. Harvard medical scientists Dieter Manstein and Rox Anderson accidentally discovered the cryolipolysis process when they observed that some children got dimples in their cheeks from eating too many popsicles.

CoolSculpting scales-up this interesting observation to a consistent and reliable body contouring procedure that’s a lot more popular than popsicles. Patients see a 20-25% reduction in troublesome fat bulges after only one session!

The CoolSculpting Experience

No matter the area you want to treat with CoolSculpting, the procedure will be relatively quick and comfortable. Thanks to a streamlined process, courtesy of the CoolAdvantage applicator, your appointment will not monopolize your entire day! At Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology, we have two state-of-the-art CoolSculpting systems that are ready to deliver real results.

CoolSculpting Experience

Your session begins when one of our trained and experienced medical staff applies a gel pad to the designated area. The CoolSculpting applicator is positioned to deliver controlled cooling to freeze and destroy the targeted fat cells. During the procedure, you may feel slight pressure, tugging, coldness, tingling and, eventually, numbing sensations. Any discomfort you may feel at the outset is only temporary as the anesthetic effect of the cold takes hold

While the CoolSculpting system is at work, you can read, relax, take a nap or enjoy Netflix! At Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology, we offer our patients a comfortable and private room for their CoolSculpting session.

After your treatment, you are free to go about your day! There is no downtime with CoolSculpting. Over the next six to eight weeks, the body’s lymphatic system flushes away the inert fat cells. Gradually, your leaner body contours will emerge.[2]

Fat reduction with CoolSculpting is long-lasting. Maintain your astonishing results with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Easy Recovery

Because CoolSculpting is a non-surgical and non-invasive procedure, it comes with a minimal recovery period. Immediately following your CoolSculpting session, you can expect the treated area(s) to be red, numb or sore. This is a common response that should subside as the area warms.[3]

Remarkable Results

After one or two CoolSculpting sessions, you will notice a progressively slimmer body contour. Your treated area(s) will continue to improve over the next few months as your body naturally eliminates the destroyed fat cells.

What Does CoolSculpting Cost in the Bay Area?

FAQ

Does CoolSculpting really work?

It does! CoolSculpting works on the principle of cryolipolysis, a phenomenon first noted by a pair of Harvard medical scientists. Fat cells are far more sensitive to freezing temperatures than other living tissue. So, by applying cold directly to troublesome bulges, CoolSculpting eliminates the fat cells while leaving the surrounding area unharmed. In the days that follow, the expired fat cells are eliminated naturally and you get to enjoy the slimming results. CoolSculpting has a high success rate but fewer risks and side effects than invasive procedures like liposuction. CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss procedure. But, when paired with a healthy lifestyle, it can play an integral role in helping you to reach your aesthetic goals.

How many times do you have to do CoolSculpting?

After just one CoolSculpting session, patients can expect to see a 25 to 30% reduction in adipose fat tissue. We recommend one to three treatments per problem area to see the best outcomes. To enhance its effects, schedule your next CoolSculpting appointment within two months of your first. This strategy takes advantage of an inflammatory response in the fat cells that results in even more of them being eliminated.

Does CoolSculpting hurt?

You will experience minimal discomfort during your CoolSculpting session. When the applicators are first set in place, they apply gentle suction to take hold. The light tugging is followed by a rush of cold, which may take some people by surprise. It’s a little intense at first, but the numbing effects of the cold will soon reduce the initial shock. Many patients report that CoolSculpting is actually quite a comfortable experience. You can read, take a nap or enjoy some Netflix on a digital device while you wait for the session to end.
