Male Cosmetic Treatments on the Rise

Posted July 18, 2016 in BOTOX® Cosmetic, FotoFacial®—AgeDelay™, Injectable Fillers, Laser Skin Treatments, Procedures for Men

Men and Plastic SurgeryThe first facial plastic surgery procedure for men occurred during World War I. Warfare in the trenches meant exposed heads and necks that were prone to major injuries, such as shattered jaws, blown-off noses, and seared skin, which required reconstructive surgery. Today, both surgical and non-surgical procedures for men are experiencing yet another surge in popularity but for entirely different reasons.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), there has been a whopping 43 percent increase in surgical and non-surgical plastic surgery procedures performed on men over the last five years.

Since 2010, the following non-surgical procedures have seen a significant increase in male patients:

  • Botulinum Toxin (up 84%)
  • Hyaluronic Acid (up 94%)
  • Nonsurgical Skin Tightening (up 37%)
  • Intense Pulsed Light (up 44%)

As the pioneer of the FotoFacial®–AgeDelay™, a form of nonsurgical skin tightening, Dr. Bitter has seen first-hand the increasing demand for these non-surgical procedures among men. He has dedicated his entire practice to reversing the signs of aging to help men (and women) feel more confident in the workplace and in their social lives to improve their overall quality of life and enhance their rate of success.

Why are these procedures so popular?

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic continues to climb the charts in popularity for both men and women for several reasons. BOTOX® Cosmetic is safe (FDA approved to reduce deep-set wrinkles in the forehead area and around the eyes), effective, and fast. Patients can see results from this injectable neurotoxin in a matter of days as their deep forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet disappear, creating a more pleasant and youthful appearance for several months.

Injectable Fillers

Injectable fillers made from substances such as hyaluronic acid are in demand because of their ability to decrease fine lines and wrinkles of the face and to plump the lips. Fillers literally “fill in” facial wrinkles, with results lasting six months or longer. Many have seen that even this slight improvement can make a world of difference in their confidence level.

FotoFacial®–AgeDelay™

Dr. Bitter has seen an increase in demand for his non-invasive FotoFacial®–AgeDelay™ procedure. He has personally trained over 5,000 doctors and nurses in his technique that tightens the skin and corrects redness, age spots, and broken capillaries. Treatment is quick, with most patients returning to work or their routine activities right after the procedure. Results can last up to two years.

Laser Skin Treatments

Laser skin treatments resurface the skin, improving the texture, clarity, and overall appearance by correcting pigmentation inconsistencies, scars, vascular conditions, and loss of skin tone. In under an hour, this procedure can significantly improve the quality of the skin. Recovery time depends on the extent of the treatment but can take up to ten days. Results can last a year or longer.
